Acoustic music means music being produced by an instrument that does not produce or enhance sound electronically. Electronic music is its opposite. I particularly love the music produced by an acoustic guitar. To me, acoustic music is like a soft pillow providing comfort for the heart.

Among the outstanding acoustic singer-songwriters are:

  •  Jason Mraz
  • Ryan Cabrera
  • Tanya Chua
  • Penny Tai
These people above are internationally-acclaimed artists. Nevertheless, they are those minorities who write and compose songs true from their heart. It’s audible. Trust me, you are able to find the difference if you choose to listen, not hear.
Do you know that there are actually many talented underground musicians in Malaysia? Most of them do not have money to fund their own albums. Most of them are not being supported. But all they want is to have a platform to perform their ‘handmade’ songs beacause they are so passionate about music. However, it is good to note that these passionate youngsters are getting more and more recognitions with many corporate movement coming into support. Some of them even managed to establish a fan base locally. This is a good sign. So guys, don’t give a kind of look to them. Because music is borderless, it does not matter who performs it. The most important thing is that they did not do it for fame or fortune, but music.
Here are some of those homegrown talents:
  • Reza Salleh
  • Paulo Delfino
  • Mia Palencia
  • Shelley Leong
  • Yuri Wong
Where and when to catch their performances?
  • Jaya One, PJ; Every first & last week of the month, friday & saturday
  • Laundry Bar, The Curve; every 2nd Thursday of the month
  • The Apartment, Suria KLCC; every 3rd Saturday of the month
  • No Black Tie, KL; certain weekends
