Baggage

It was a grueling day. I pulled my luggage out of the storeroom and started to pack. This time, it was not for a 3 days 2 nights trip nor was it for a sleepover at my friend’s house. Almost my whole closet is following me to begin a new lease of life at a place which was love at first sight after discovering it. The feeling grew stronger and stronger as I unearth more about this place. I guess, many people will be questioning my sanity because I’ve never set foot in that place before.

It’s a dubious decision as seen. Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter what others are going to say and I need not convince anyone out there right now that this was a rational decision. Time will do the work.

21st floor

It’s so complicated. This feeling is unexplainable. Everything is jumbled up and I can’t find a proper term to define it.

Yesterday was my last day at work and my colleagues surprised me with a gift. Their sincerity and effort in presenting this gift to me meant a lot to my little soul. Honestly, that was not the best workplace in the world but these people working alongside me whom society are accustomed to labeling them as ordinary people are the ones who made me realise that life can be simple with some laughter, grumbling, silence, conversation and chocolate intertwined together. One of the best things in life is knowing the fact that your existence is being appreciated. Isn’t it?

It was a last time for many things. Signing out from the office signaled the end of this 2 months stint. I will miss my lunch hour at 11am, the times I yawn profusely and forced to shut my eyes for that few minutes, the brief strolls I took which ended up leaning by the window, the stories and laughter we shared and most of all, the amazing people over there.

I pray for nothing but happiness for you all. Hey guys, thanks for the wishes, take great care and I will definitely miss you all too. I’m moving on.

Cubicle life ending soon

Only 1 week left, then I’m done with my life in the cubicle.

If I’d a choice, I might not want to leave that workplace.

Now that we have bonded so close, I dare not imagine how will my heart reacts when the time for separation arrives.

My mind wants to share with the world what I’ve been going through. Maybe or maybe not, some snippets of the glitches and of course, the whole chunk of events that still make life wonderful.

After so many years of riding the roller coaster, my life has its own fair share of ups and downs. Just like yours. Like what we used to say, life is a ferris wheel. Down under now, the next minute you will be high up in the sky relishing the exhilarating moment.

I’ve learned to put others before myself when the rough waves hit me. By doing so, I learned that our wounds will heal faster and better instead of hiding in one corner licking our respective gashes. Whether it’s true or not, it dawned on me that no matter how difficult our lives are, there is still someone out there in this world who is worse off compared to us. As for the intricacies and ironies of life, it’s unavoidable, my friend. Just face it. Real toughness is not about acting, but doing. A stronger butterfly that shines from within, that is what we ought to be.

Believe it or not, random acts of kindness do invite miracles. I am a living testimony. Despite facing some unpleasant times, lending someone a helping hand does make me a happier person. Yes, merely that pure feeling of happiness, nothing more or special. How many of us, trapped in the midst of the hustle-bustle of life, still remember that down-to-earth yet magnificent feeling of assisting people?

Life really gets better, if and if only you believe in it. I woke up early, went for a run and got a surprising ‘good morning’ from a typical worker who is doing his chores. He can choose not to greet me, but he did. After the run, I grabbed my water, sat down on the curb and enjoy the sounds of nature with the wind hurling towards me. There is nothing more better than to replenish fluids in such a perfect weather. Moments later, a motherly-figured lady walked towards my side, flashing that perfect smile. You bet, it came with that typical yet heart-warming ‘good morning’ too! Wow, both events really made my day! I was asking myself, how can life be better than this?

To everyone out there, life can be really great if you are willing to give more than what you have. It ain’t about seeing the greener side of the grass, but rather going back to basic-being kind towards each other, even strangers too. Start by smiling, a gift that was given by God but rarely being used. Tough time isn’t an excuse, but rather an opportunity for us to recognise our blessings as we extend our helping hands. Let us take a step back and rekindle the true essence of humanity.

2010 sets off

Woot! This will be my first post for 2010!

As the 2010 plane takes off, all unpleasant memories of 2009 have entered the paper shredder and shall be left behind. For the memories that are worth smiling about, those had been recorded into a cassette and shall be played back to remind me how blessed am I.

Dear all, 2010 is the year I vowed to eat slower and enjoy every bite. Fingers crossed!!

2009 in a nutshell

2009 is ending. What have I done? Did I merely tip-toe-ed past 2009 or actually made some improvements and lived my life? Below is the summarised version of this fabulous year:-

Books

I managed to read 10 self-help books this year which also means 1 book per month. I clearly know that this is not any extraordinary feat compared to those avid readers. But, this is an achievement for a non-book lover like me who never like thick novels and storybooks. Reading did amplified the positive corner of my mind.

Running

This is the first year I started to join the women’s open category in a run or marathon. It was an eye-opening experience witnessing so many pro-runners running alongside me for a distance of 10/11km. The night run was also a great experience and a total of 3 running events had been participated by me throughout the year. I’m glad to see an improvement in my time and outdoor have become one of my favourite running spot be it park, trail or stadium. You just can’t resist running under a cloudy, chilly weather. Nevertheless, there’s still more to go..

I’ve fulfilled my own promise and been to these 3 art venues which I’ve been longing to go since day one. Being in an artistic place just gives you a sort of exceptional, irreplaceable feel. You got to be there to experience it. Don’t just judge these place from your typical brochure.

Food

For a foodie like me, nothing is more satisfying than to roam the food streets and fill your stomach with mouth-watering stuffs. Those food pictures are sufficient to make you drool the whole night! Satay, nasi lemak, mamak food, you name it.

Music

Jazz-the new term in my music vocabulary. Previously, I didn’t realise how much I love this music genre until I stumbled upon it. I’m now hoping to watch live jazz performances.

People

Last but not least. I must say that I’ve met many great people this year, originating from different backgrounds. Because of that, my horizon has expanded tremendously. There are people who show me their devotion to their respective religions. There are people who taught me about being extremely selfless in friendship. There are also people who made me realise the power of uncertainty-nothing is fixed and things change.

Bothered

I’m stucked. I really do no know what to blog despite the fact that so many things have been going on for the past few days. Nobody is at home today and no plans are made. Maybe some random stuffs will pop up.

As my parents weren’t at home (who doesn’t wish for that haha), I definitely have my own fair share of fun outside the house. I visited Malacca for the nyonya food, walked on Jonker street, took a ride on the ferris wheel (Eye on Malaysia) and entered the Scream Park at Sunway Lagoon too. I was smiling and giggling occasionally during my time inside the Scream Park. After all, it’s true that fear is a state of mind.

There are things I cannot stop worrying and it disrupted my enjoyment of time. I’m physically present, but my mind is somewhere else-floating in ‘outer space’. At times, it’s good that we don’t care or bother so much about the things around us. If it’s not up to us to decide, why put ourselves through the tunnel of trouble and end up with nothing?
