No Reservations February 4, 2009

Recently, I was watching a movie titled “No reservations” on HBO channel. This movie was released in 2007 and it’s actually kind of outdated. I love this movie so much especially the lead actress and  actor which were starred by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Echkart respectively. The story revolves around the rivalry between 2 chefs and later on seeing them becoming a couple and opening a restaurant together. Although I missed out on the beginning, but I did fell in love with this light-hearted romantic movie.

As the story is nearing to the end, Kate’s (Catherine) therapist mentioned this when she met him for the one last time: “It’s the recipe that you made is the best”. At that moment, Kate was indecisive. She doesn’t know whether to let Nick (Aaron) go or not.

It’s the same in life. Often, we get bogged down for some reasons. There’s too many decisions to made and we are standing at the crossroad almost everyday. At this point in time, we desperately hoped that someone will jump in and pull us out from the dilemma. So what if a person is able to guide you and decides for you? Is it the right answer to your heart? Probably the decision is right. Maybe not. Decisions are frequently made based on rationalism whereby facts are weighed using one’s conscience. Nevertheless, one’s feeling and desire are usually not taken into consideration.

All this while, it is true that we know what we want, what we crave for. It is just that we let countless things to pile on top of it and eventually it submerge and sank to the bottom of the heart. Too many things, especially the harsh realities of life. We never bear our true aspirations in mind though. Why so?

Only we ourselves know what we hanker after. No one is clearer than you and the key is in your hands. A wise man makes his own decisions, an ignorant man follows public opinion”. Still can’t seek the missing piece of your puzzle? Follow your heart, trust me. Remember, it’s the recipe that YOU made is the BEST.

Have you found your own recipe?
